About the Rivertowns Current
Please see our announcement! The Rivertowns Current will be merging into the Rivertowns Dispatch as of September 2024.
Welcome, and thanks to everyone who has subscribed to or expressed interest in the Rivertowns Current so far. The name was chosen as a nod to classic newspapers, things going on currently, and of course, our beloved Hudson River.
I was a longtime subscriber to the Rivertowns Enterprise and was saddened by its sudden closure. After attending a meeting about the future of local news coverage, I was inspired to start a Substack with a local angle.
This is still an early work in progress. For now, you can subscribe for free (with the option to become a paid subscriber to support this endeavor).
Posting will likely be sporadic for a while as we ramp up.
If you want to help, contribute ideas or stories, or share news tips, please feel free to get in touch at rivertownscurrent@gmail.com.
If you’d like to hear a podcast episode about the creation of the Rivertowns Current, listen to this episode of the Rivertowns Story Corps.
If you’d like to watch an interview where I discuss the Rivertowns Current, you can watch this episode of Greenburgh Public Access television.
If you want to learn more about how the Substack platform works, see https://substack.com/about.
