I’ve got some exciting news to share!
Let me start by once again thanking everyone who has signed up to receive news from the Rivertowns Current. Your support and interest have meant the world to me. I’ve been thrilled to provide news to residents of Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley, and Irvington — with the help of some very talented writers and photographers. The response was even better than I’d hoped for, and I met some great people along the way!
I said from the beginning of this venture that I hoped to fill a hole in hyper-local news coverage after the sudden closure of the Rivertowns Enterprise until a more permanent solution could be found.
The Rivertowns Dispatch will be launching as a weekly print paper in September and will cover Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Ardsley, and Irvington. The Dispatch plans to bring back the news coverage and storytelling that enriches communities and will spotlight people, businesses, art, and civic life through enlightening stories in print and online, and through community events — capturing the remarkable spirit of the Rivertowns. The former editor-in-chief of the Rivertowns Enterprise, Tim Lamorte, will be the Dispatch’s editor-in-chief; he will be working alongside publisher Allison Schulte and designer/advisor Christy Knell.
After much consideration and discussion with the leadership of the Rivertowns Dispatch (and consulting with several industry leaders), I am planning to fold the Rivertowns Current into the Rivertowns Dispatch (and of course, I’ll be writing for the Rivertowns Dispatch!).
As many of you may already know, the Rivertowns Dispatch is now sending out weekly emails. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to sign up to receive updates from the Rivertowns Dispatch at https://www.rivertownsdispatch.com/. You can also subscribe to a weekly print edition for $100/year.
We will continue to publish stories on the Rivertowns Current through the end of August.
I have paused paid subscriptions to the Rivertowns Current.
This means:
New readers will not be able to purchase a paid subscription plan.
Existing paid subscribers won't be charged again.
Yearly paid subscribers to the Rivertowns Current: I will email you about converting your annual subscription to the Rivertowns Current to a discount with the Rivertowns Dispatch. Please get in touch with me with any other questions or concerns about your individual paid subscription to the Rivertowns Current.
I believe that by working together, the people who want to help bolster local news coverage in the Rivertowns can be most successful. I’m excited for this next phase of the Rivertowns Current as we flow into the Rivertowns Dispatch!
